Heavy duty GRP anti slip stair treads for covering the full step surface, not just the front edge. These rigid stair tread covers add long-lasting grip across worn, slippery or exposed steps and include a contrasting yellow front edge to improve step visibility.

Made from durable fibreglass GRP with an embedded quartz grit surface, they are suitable for indoor and outdoor stairs in homes, commercial premises, warehouses, schools, workshops, fire exits and public access areas.

Tread cover or stair nosing?

Choose a GRP stair tread cover when most of the step surface is slippery, worn or damaged. Choose GRP stair nosing when you only need to protect or highlight the front step edge.

Installation guidance

The step must be clean, dry, stable and reasonably level before fitting. Repair cracked, loose or crumbling areas before installation. Each cover should sit flat without rocking or raised edges.

1. Clean the step and remove dirt, grease, algae and loose coatings.
2. Position the tread cover and check the tread and riser fit.
3. Mark cutting and fixing points.
4. Cut with a suitable powered tool and GRP-compatible abrasive or diamond blade if required.
5. Secure using mechanical fixings and/or a compatible external-grade adhesive suitable for the step material.
6. Check alignment and movement before reopening the stairs.

Wear suitable eye, respiratory and hand protection when drilling or cutting GRP. For commercial, public access or complex installations, use a competent installer.

What is the difference between stair treads and stair nosing?

A stair tread cover protects the wider walking surface of the step and returns down the riser. Stair nosing mainly protects or highlights the leading edge.
