Why Is Decking So Slippery in the UK?
The UK climate creates the perfect conditions for dangerous decking surfaces:
- Persistent rainfall – water pools on flat surfaces, reducing grip instantly
- Moss & algae growth – forms a slick, invisible film on timber and composite boards
- Wooden surface wear – aged decking loses its natural texture over time
- Frost & ice – winter conditions make untreated decking extremely hazardous
The extra wide 90mm format means more grip per strip — particularly effective on wider boards where standard 50mm strips leave exposed slippery surface between fixings.
How Our GRP Strips Solve the Problem
Our GRP anti slip strips provide a permanent, textured surface that channels water away and maintains grip in wet, icy, or algae-prone conditions. The embedded quartz grit finish cannot peel, wash off, or wear down — unlike tape or paint alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose 90mm wide strips over standard width?
The extra 90mm width provides greater surface coverage per strip, making it ideal for wider decking boards and commercial surfaces where maximum grip area is needed. Fewer strips are required to cover the same area.
Are these strips DDA compliant?
Yes. Our GRP decking strips conform to DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) legislation and are tested to BS7976-2, making them suitable for public buildings, schools, hospitals, and commercial premises.
Can they be used on composite decking?
Yes. Our GRP anti slip strips are suitable for wood, composite, concrete, and most hard decking surfaces. Screws are included and the strips are pre-drilled for straightforward installation.
Are anti slip decking strips permanent?
Yes. GRP strips are screwed directly into the decking surface using the pre-drilled fixings included. They are designed as a permanent, long-term safety solution — not a temporary fix.
Do they need any maintenance?
Minimal. An occasional brush-down or rinse is all that's needed. The GRP material requires no painting, sealing, or treatment — and the quartz grit surface will not peel or fade.
How long do GRP decking strips last?
GRP decking strips are designed for 10+ years of outdoor use. The anti-slip quartz grit is embedded into the surface and will not peel or wear off, providing reliable grip year-round.

Absolutely brilliant product
Used to provide slip resistance on sleepers forming a step in the garden. They are a danger in the wet!
These strips are quite rigid, so need a flat surface to fix down to. Fixing is simple with the provided screws into timber. Bit more difficult with concrete or bricks below
More effective fixing than relying on adhesive which doesn't last long in wet conditions
I recommend, they do the job well, but they're not cheap!
Used this for wooden step and works well. Feels sturdy but only time will tell how long it remains effective.
These strips are awesome. I can now use my sleeper steps without fear of slipping over. Easy to install.
